My application for Daily Mail Trainee Reporter job

You might have seen around the blogs that the Daily Mail is advertising for a trainee reporter.  Anton Vowl and Angry Mob (plus a more people in the comments at Angry Mob than I've managed to read yet) have written their own applications, so I thought I'd be a big old copycat and give it a go myself.  If you see any more around the place, mention them in the comments and I'll stick some links up here.  *UPDATE* Ooh look, here's Primly Stable.  And Daily Quail, and Cath Elliot and Doug.

Here's my application:

Ringarangadong for a holiday

Check out the new style we just play.

I am off on holidy for a little over two weeks.  Not anywhere hot or dusty like Minority Thought though.  Let's just say there's more chance of me meeting Scott Pilgrim where I'm going.  I plan to blog a bit more when I get back, and there'll be one or two new regular features, I think.  I won't be cutting down on the bum jokes though.  Relax, bumface.

While I am gone, I might as well  nick Minority Thought's idea and give you a list of other media watchy type blogs to pay attention to - although it appears to be media watchy blog holiday season at the minute with me, Anton Vowl and Primly Stable all being away.  In different places, I think.

After the jump - a song!

Meme tune

Hey, Jamie at Blood & Treasure, Justin at Chicken Yoghurt and D-Notice at, uh, D-Notice have theme tunes for their blog. What a billiant idea to steal!

Here's what I wish the theme tune to Five Chinese Crackers was:

Here's the more sensible choice. The earlier one is the B-side or something:

You like my theme tune(s) innit? You like, yes?

Update - here's Anton Vowl's for Enemies of Reason.

Olympic dreaming

This morning I woke up in fits of giggles because I'd been dreaming that I'd been picked to appear at the 2012 Olympics opening ceremony.  For some reason, I hated the Olympics in the dream.  In real life I'm not that bothered.

That's not it.  Don't go away!

What am I going to do with my life?

There's this thing I used to do.  It's the sort of creative thing you can do as a career, but you  have to work your way into.  I went quite a distance, and people thought I was good at it.  People doing it as a career thought I'd be good enough to join them with a bit more practice, and people at the same level I was at then are successful now.  The future was looking pretty bright.

But I stopped.

Stop singing Journey

My wife finally snapped.  It happened the other night, when we were watching Bones or something, and the adverts came on.  Up popped a trailer for Glee and she suddenly said, "For god's sake stop shouting 'STOP SINGING JOURNEY!' whenever that advert comes on."  Because I had.  Again.  And my face was still red from the effort.

Holiday

I'm always on bloody holiday. YES! Anyway, I'm off for a couple of weeks. Again. See you on the flipside, suckers!*

Here are a couple of clips. If I get a faraway look on my face and stare off into the middle distance, and you're tempted to ask, "what are you thinking?" - it's this. (Below the jump).

Urgent weekend request

***UPDATE*** The first comments are in. I want at least double figures for this baby. Come on!

You'll find out why

Inspired by (or shamelessly merging a couple of recent ideas from, you decide) Anton over at Enemies of Reason, I am breaking with the remit of this blog to put out an urgent weekend request to my lovely readers. I'll also be sharing a detail about myself that I probably shouldn't. Hurrah! Here goes.
