5cc poll

As I said a couple of posts ago, I'm going off for a week. When I get back, this place might change a little bit.

This is supposed to be a single issue blog that takes apart tabloid bullshit, but I seem to have been shifting a bit toward looking at other things and doing stuff other than fisking articles recently. This is partly because I'm getting a bit fed up with looking at virtually identical stories and pointing out over and over again that they've been churned from a MigrationWatch press release and exaggerated a bit, if I'm honest. I'm starting to forget to head over to the papers and plough through looking for poo stories every day. I'm even overlooking made up nonsense stories when I see them because it all looks so familiar.

But I'm not sure what to do - so I'm asking you, readers. I want all three of you to look over at the poll over on the right and let me know what you'd like to see more of and I'll have a think about what I want to do when I get back. It constantly amazes me that anyone actually reads this here and I'm intrigued to know what you like about it - so feel free to say in the comments what you'd like to see me doing here or if there's anything that really gets on your thrupennies.

Do you like the Sammy Davis bum gags, or do you prefer it when I get all serious and that and look in proper detail at articles and talk about confirmation bias and strawman arguments and all that gubbins? Are you happy with the mix I have? Would you prefer more short posts with jokes that don't look at things in too much detail, or would you rather see more detailed analysis of things? The only thing I definitely won't do is start uploading nudie pictures, so don't get any funny ideas.

Feel free to let me know what you think in the comments. At the end of the day, I'll end up doing whatever I feel like anyway, but it would be good to know what you think. It'll be all web 2.0 and that.

While I'm off, you be good now.

A true artist should do what they want, if people like it then good, if they don't, stuff em.

If you go down the lines of writing what you think people want you to write, well, that there is Daily Mail land.

I for one like and appreciate what you do here. But it's totally understandable that you may well be soul-sick from the sheer volume of nasty bullshit there is in the 'bloids to wade through at the moment. I went for option A in your poll, but tbh though, I enjoy your style of writing and I'd still read your blog whatever direction you choose to take it in. Hope that helps!

A period away (like wot I just done) can be refreshing. I was tempted to blog and read others but didn't (just The Gruaniad). As constantly having a go at one sphere can be depressing, I took the step of mixing it up with a few 'look at holiday snaps - our room marked with an X' posts.
Those who want 5CC Special Brew could go to the Mail Watch site.

Have a good break.
Loved Number 4 option - I get people looking for Fish Sex in Cologne a lot!

There are several things I really like about blogs. They let a writer fixate or return repeatedly to a topic where the MSM makes journos move on.

They let the writer say what they want, no need to pad or butcher an article because of the word limit.

Perhaps best of all, they let you wander around in someone's head so you get their politics but also many other aspects of their life and personality. It is often the flip and light things that engender the trust that makes you swallow the serious pieces.

So I think you shouldn't write about something if it's getting stale for you. I trust your wit to speak well and I think your great ability to analyse will be well applied to many other kinds of bullshit if you turn your attention away from the Mail.

It's that unwavering, intelligent dissection of public nonsense that I love most in your work. In the absence of any nudie pics, that's the sort of thing I'd like to see. But, as I say, I do think any blog can and should have a variety of forms of post.as.

I think, if you are getting bored of the subject it will be reflected in the quality and frequency of your updates and varying the subject you are writing about should allow you to return to dissecting Mail stories with renewed interest (hopefully).

You don't have any responsibility to us in regards to the subject you choose to write about. Write about whatever you enjoy or are interested in and you will find an audience who enjoys reading about it.

Personally, if you are looking for other subjects to write about, I would enjoy some more lighthearted entries or entries that make me feel more positive, after all, I can read a newspaper if I want to convince myself that the world is made up of awful people doing bad things.

Now that you have amassed a huge dossier of tabloid lies, you could produce a report that summarises your whole body of work and draws some conclusions. Almost like a starter pack.

What I really want to know is, how do we fight back?

For me, a blog should be about whatever you want it to be about and can drfit from issues that bug you to personal stuff and back and even stop off at a sporting event or a nice photo you take.

One themed blogs are dull as dishwater, best to branch out and use it for what I think they're for, you to expres yourself in whatever way to fancy.
